| Requirements: | Floating plants appreciated, access to the water surface. A strong cover also a good idea. |
| Diet: | Small live, and prepared accepted. |
| Breeding: | Male has spiney patches under his eyes and on gill covers. They lay a very large number of floating eggs. |
| Sociability: | Pairs, Avoid keeping with other anabantoids, due to aggression. Will eat smaller fish, and be very testy during breeding. |
