Stats:

Adult Size: 4 3/4" (12 cm)
Temp: 72-81 F (22-27 C)
Tank: 40" (100 cm) minimum

Requirements:
Loves floating plants and cover. No fin-nipping tankmates.
Diet:
Carnivore. Flake, or other prepared foods accepted. Meaty foods relished.
Breeding:
Females smaller, with rounded dorsal. Bubblenest breeder. Keep rearing tank well covered, as cold air can kill fry.
Sociability:
Can be temperamental and aggressive to conspecifics. Many can tolerate fish that are not from their family, small schooling fish are possibilities. Avoid all fin-nipping tank mates.
