Apistogramma Species (Apistogramma sp. )

Stats:

Adult Size: 1 1/2 - 4" (3.75-10 cm)
Temp: 75-79 F (24-26 C)
Tank: 24" (60 cm) minimum

Requirements:
Most Apistos do well is darkened planted tanks. The are combined well with calm schoaling species from the top of the tank. pH:6.5-7.5, hardness: soft to med hard.
Diet:
Most Apistos enjoy small live food, but are easily adaptable to prepared foods, mainly a carnivore.
Breeding:
Females often yellow when breeding. Very acidic soft water needed to get them to breed, and for the eggs to hatch. Depending on species they have slightly different needs of location.
Sociability:
Pairs, sometimes 1M to 2F trios.
