Ram Cichlid (Microgeophagus ramirezi)

Synonyms: Butterfly, Blue Ram
Stats: Adult Size: 2" (5 cm)
Temp: 81-86 F (27-30 C)
Tank: 20" (50 cm) minimum
Requirements: Plants preferred, with plenty of open space, and subdued lighting. pH: 5-6.5, H: very soft.
Diet: Carnivore mainly. Small live are much appreciated.
Breeding: Brood on stones, and pair guards fry. Males have much longer filaments on beginning of dorsal fin.
Sociability: Pairs normally. Calm shoaling species can be kept with them. If they are nervous they will hide most of the time.

Special Info: This is one of the most beautiful freshwater fish, but they can be sensitive to water quality.
