Kribensis (Pelvicachromis pulcher)

Synonyms: Purple Cichlid
Stats: Adult Size: 4" (10 cm)
Temp: 77-82 F (25-28 C)
Tank: 24" (60 cm) minimum
Requirements: Acidic water, with caves and plants, arranged in darker colors. Some species require even more acidic water.
Diet: Anything. Will take flake, live, frozen, or pellet. Very undemanding.
Breeding: Easy. Males have longer fin extensions, also pointed tails, and females have red bellies. Prefer pots or tubes to spawn in. Fry can be fed prepared liquid food and crushed flake.
Sociability: Fairly peaceful for a cichlid. Can be very aggressive when breeding, and rarely are fry lost to predators.

Related Species are almost as easy to spawn as this common variety.

Special Info: This cichlid forms pair bonds, and can be very protective of its spawn. Fry can easily be raised in a separate rearing tank.
