Bala Shark (Balantiocheilus melanopterus)

Synonyms: Silver Shark
Stats: Adult Size: 14" (34 cm)
Temp: 76-82 F (24-27 C)
Tank: 72" (180 cm) minimum
Requirements: Bala Sharks do well with the sides of the aquarium covered, or well planted, and lots of open space in the center of the tank.
Diet: Standard Flakes, or any omnivore type foods. Not picky.
Breeding: Generally size is prohibitive to breeding in home aquaria.
Sociability: Groups of at least six, as they are very jumpy in smaller groups. Other large peaceful tankmates are fine.

Special Info: Watch the adult size of this fish. It will easily and quickly reach 12 inches, and can bang into the ends of aquariums that are too short.
