Stats: Adult Size: 2" (5 cm)
Temp: 77-82 F (25-28 C)
Tank: 24" (60 cm) minimum
Requirements: Loves plants. Can be kept in pairs or trios, but groups good too.
Diet: Anything, not picky. Small live or frozen relished.
Breeding: Females brown, breeding males bright red. Egg-scatter. Secret is keeping them from eating all the eggs. Feathery plants or Mops preferred.
Sociability: Keep in at least pairs, better in groups of 6 or more. Easy to combine with Chequed Barbs. One of the more peaceful barb species.

Special Info: Some pond bred ones in stores have deformed tails and backbones. Only buy fish with nice straight spines and full tails. The deformed ones should have been culled by the breeder, as structurally they will not survive as long.
