Caging

A sturdy commercial cage is best. Multilevel is better than single. Ferrets enjoy reorganizing their homes, so dishes that are bolted to the cage are a good idea.

Most people also allow their ferrets out to wander a room in their house. Be aware that ferrets can fit into any space they can fit their head through, unless they are very overweight. They are also very good at opening cabinet doors, and ripping through the canvas bottoms of mattresses and couches. Also beware the reclining chair. Many a ferret has taken a nap within one, and been crushed by the inner workings.
